Environment and Natural Resources Management

  • Tree planting (indigenous and environmentally friendly fruit trees and non-fruit trees) at schools and in communities
  • Promotion of Laudato si program (collection of polyethene, plastics and west management ),radio talk show
  • Sensitization/creation on awareness about river flooding and the risks associated
  • Training households on briquette making and use.

Sustainable Agriculture and Value Addition

  • Biocher and horticulture in schools (bed est. and care)
  • Food Value addition at kinyamaseke (caritas Lhwanzo millers)
  • Vegetable farming in households (kitchen/backyard gardens, urban farming practices ‘‘sack mount, plastic materials’’).
  • Piggery and poultry farming at caritas farm.
  • Promotion of coffee growing among caritas farmers.

Livelihoods, Finance and Education.

  • Livelihood and inclusive microfinance project (vegetable farming, VSLA, empowerment, piggery, poultry, skilling)
  • Integrated house hold support project(white sorghum, saving, participant capacity building, wash interventions)
  • Caritas Kasese Lhwanzo SACCO which help in giving loans to the clients with an at most favorable interest rate.

Emergency Response and Disaster Risk Management.

  • Sensitization/creation on awareness about river flooding and the expected negative outcomes. associated
  • Recently concluded response in Kyodo  sub county (multipurpose cash transfers)
  • Interventions in IDP camps (Muhokya and Kasika) that is vegetable growing and DV psychosocial support FIs and NFIs.

Health, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene

  • Rain water harvesting (construction of water tanks ‘calabash and pumpkin’) in schools and at parishes that is, (Kamasasa p/s, Kitsutsu p/s, Muhokya p/s, Munkunyu p/s, Nyakahya p/s Bishop Egidio ss, then Katwe, Kitabu, Kyabikere, parishes among others)
  • Promotion of re-usable sanitary pads in primary schools (training on making and proper use of these pads)
  • Skilling children in schools on liquid and bar soap making.

Gender and Equal opportunities

  • Advocacy against Gender Based Violence and Domestic Violence.
  • Women empowerment through skilling and support women centered Income Generating Activities.
  • Girl child education (menstrual hygiene)
  • Children’s rights and freedoms.

Institutional Capacity Strengthening

Caritas-Kasese carry staff capacity building on;

  • Nursery bed establishment and management
  • Vegetable farming,
  • Animal husbandry
  • Liquid soap production
  • Water tank construction
  • Livelihoods and inclusive microfinance
  • Psychological First Aid skills to the staff.
